TAPU Title Deed

TAPU is the Title Deed for Turkish real estate ownership.

TAPU, the title deed, is a legal document that serves to establish an individual’s unambiguous and irrefutable ownership rights to property acquired in Turkey.

Once the purchase-sale contract has been concluded, the conditions of real estate financing have been fulfilled, all the required formalities have been fulfilled, and a real estate transaction can be processed.

The real estate agency acting under a power of attorney from the client will submit all the relevant documents for verification and approval of their legality and authenticity to the local governmental organization of property registration, the Cadastre and Tapu office, in the city and district where the property has been acquired.

Upon verifying the authenticity and legality of the submitted documents, the Title Deed, Tapu will be issued as conclusive evidence of the new owner’s legal right to the property.

When purchasing real estate in Turkey, it is required that the entire purchase price has been paid by the time the buyer receives Tapu, the Title Deed.

On the Tapu, the ownership of the property can be held by one or multiple owners, either in the form of individuals or legal entities.
